Make Your Own Patchwork Headband

This is a great project for almost any skill level. It doesn't take much time or material and you have a super cute headband.

Materials Needed
-2 different kinds of fabric (I usually use whatever cute scraps I have laying around)
-Elastic Hairband (I use a small ouchless elastic hair band, but any small one is fine)

Directions

1. Cut out one rectangle of fabric 2" x 22". Cut 15 squares of fabric 2"x2".

2. Sew squares together then press seams. It should look like below. **Use 1/4" seams for all sewing except for step #6**

3. Pin "right sides" of rectangle fabric and patchwork rectangle together. The patchwork rectangle will be longer. Just trim so its the same size as the other rectangle.

4. Starting at long end of rectangle sew three sides together. One of the short ends should be left open.

5. Pull fabric though open hole so now the headband is facing right side out. Tuck in about 1/4" of open end and press headband.

6. Starting at open end topstitch around entire headband using 1/8" seam.

7. Put one end of headband through hairband with underside facing up. Fold about .5" of fabric over hairband. Sew together then flip over and sew over that stitch.

8. Put the other end of the headband through the hairband and follow step #7 above.

9. Enjoy your brand new headband:)

I love this! I've been thinking about making a strip-pieced headband for a while...maybe I will whip up one tonight!
